this book is about a million times better than other books out there about the same region. it’s way more recetly updated, the info is thorough and reliable, and the writing is funny & fun to read. i recommend it to anyone traveling to eastern europe–tossing this book into your backpack is totally worth the extra weight.

This guide blows my other’s out of the water on one thing: where to eat and sleep for cheap. Its recconmendations on nice, independent and cheap hostels and places to eat are the best, hands down. Way better than Lonely Planet or Rough Guides. The guide is a bit “Eastern Europe Lite” on most things as it crams in a ton of countries and cities but, nevertheless, it is worth buying soley for the accomodations section.

This guide is pretty solid, I’ve seen last year’s edition too and this one is even better in terms of coverage. The Russia/Ukraine/Baltics material is esp helpful as compared to competing guides.
